Off Topic Supermarket Discussions - January 2016

This was actually posted after 1/1, but it's here to prevent clogging up the main page. 1 comment moved here from another post to start.

  1. Check out the Rouses (old A&P from the 1930s) on Royal Street in New Orleans. Not only is it my favorite supermarket building of all time, but spirits there are kept behind the counter (even though beer and wine are sold like any other item) which is just like the old Pennsylvania state stores.

    I have NO idea why, but Newtown Square Shopping Center in Newtown Square, PA has not one but TWO state stores in it today! The one inside the Acme is nicer and newer, but is tiny and badly lit compared to the older (1970s) store at the opposite end of the strip center.
